Leadership Opportunities
Trailblazers Leadership Program

Designed for incoming students who would like to advance their leadership skills and begin learning more about themselves, this program will help you discover your talents and accelerate your leadership development by providing tools and resources necessary for an effective leader. Sessions are typically held during Community Hour (1:40-2:55pm) across the academic year. This is a paid opportunity.
Readiness Series

Targeted to juniors and seniors who want to strengthen their skillset and prepare them for life after college, you'll gain experience establishing a professional network, pitching yourself, learning your strengths, working on team dynamics and learning professional communication. Sessions are typically held during spring semester.
Civic Engagement Corps

Through this program, you'll examine what it means to be a civically engaged citizen through coursework and project-based learning/activities. You'll hone your leadership skills, plan civic engagement events and develop written and communication skills. You'll also provide peer support to their fellow students, enhance engagement opportunities on campus, organize social media campaigns to enhance civic awareness, engage with students to enhance their awareness of the importance in being civically engaged and host activities/events for students to demonstrate their civic responsibilities.
Peer Ambassadors

This program is dedicated to providing a comprehensive student leadership opportunity that fosters professional and personal development and encourages students to create leadership identities as individuals and as member of a team. You'll assist the Office of Student Transition Programs in events such as Orientation, Commencement, and other related activities. This is a paid opportunity.
Federal Work Study

Through Federal Work Study (FWS), you work with the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership by greeting students, screening calls, and assisting the staff. These positions are offered to students who are eligible for work study. If you are unsure if you are eligible, contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Student Executives

Every student organization must have a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer elected by John Jay students. You'll work closely with John Jay staff members on programs for students. Elections are typically held in April and May, and last for the following academic year.
LIDS

A retreat experience tailored to students who wish to expand their already-growing leadership skills and qualities, LIDS focuses on leadership, integrity, diversity, and service and occurs during Spring Break. This is a paid opportunity.
College Assistants

College Assistants work with the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership on programming, administration, and more. Positions are typically filled at the beginning of each academic year. This is a paid opportunity.
