Accepted Graduate Students
Welcome to John Jay College!
You're joining a community of dedicated students, scholars and practitioners who are fierce advocates for justice in their communities, across the nation and throughout the world. Please take these steps to enroll.
Please complete this online form found within the electronic decision letter you received for John Jay. You can log into your application to view this form. Please indicate whether you are enrolling now, declining admission or accepting and requesting a deferral to Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
We are currently waiving the $250 Commitment Deposit fee, however students must still submit the online commitment form. Only students who submit this form will be invited to register for classes. We encourage students that have been admitted for Spring 2025 to submit the deposit within 2 weeks of being admitted in order to guarantee a seat in the upcoming term. Only students who submit the deposit waiver will receive registration information, which begins in mid-November. We cannot guarantee students a seat without the submission of the commitment form.
*Please use a desktop or laptop when filling out the form.
Immunization forms are required for all students admitted to on-campus programs. Students admitted to online degree and certificate programs do not need to submit immunization forms unless they plan to use on-campus facilities or take on-campus courses. CUNY students who attended or graduated a CUNY school after 2004 will not need immunization forms as CUNYfirst has this data already and John Jay can access it. Since the campus may have various hours of being open in person and being open remotely, all document inquiries should be sent to the health office at Healthoffice@jjay.cuny.edu. If required, you will need to submit your Immunization Form or Fall classes. You can also go directly to the Health Office website for more information.
COVID vaccine is no longer required.
Students should apply for financial aid as soon as possible. This can be done at the same time a student applies for the graduate program. Financial aid includes scholarships, grants, and federal student loans. Please note that you will need to complete your FAFSA Application (Select 2024-2025 FAFSA) to determine financial aid eligibility. John Jay College FAFSA school code is 002693. *Please note, Advanced Certificates do not qualify for federal student loans.
John Jay College does not provide housing however there are many options in NYC for housing including EHS. For information about housing options, please visit the Housing webpage.
Students who have lived in NYS for 2 years or less must prove NYS residency to get the in-state tuition rate. If students are not US citizen’s or permanent residents, they will also need to prove residency. Determination for New York State Residency is based on the information provided on your application (How long have you lived in NYS?) and your immigration status. You may qualify for the resident tuition rate if you are a US citizen or permanent resident or an immigrant in a qualifying status and you have continuously maintained a residence in New York State for a period of at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately prior to the first day of classes. Additional information regarding residency status is available on the Residency webpage.
The first day of classes for the Spring 2025 semester is Saturday, January 25th, 2025. You will receive information on how to self-register starting in mid-November and if admitted after this date about one to two weeks after you have sent your commitment form online. Students can review courses offerings for the upcoming term via CUNY Global Class Search. Graduate students are not required to get advisement before registering for courses but you can contact your Graduate Program Director for advisement on recommendations if necessary. Advisement information will be emailed with your permission to register for classes. Registration will take place within our student information system CUNYFirst.
You will be sent information on how to set up your John Jay College email account after submitting the commitment form along with Registration information. After the start of the semester, John Jay College will be communicating with you exclusively through your John Jay College student email address. You can look to create your John Jay email by going to the following link: Reset Password.
You will receive an e-mail invitation to Orientation in December as the event nears. Fall orientation usually takes place a few days prior to the start of the term in January. You must RSVP to the invitation, so we know you will be attending.
