Bettina Muenster (Assistant Director)
Hello All. My name is Bettina Muenster (full bio) and I am the Assistant Director of OSRC. I have been working in this office since it was created in 2017. Every year, I look forward to providing students with a wide array of services and opportunities to support students' research experiences and creative projects. In addition to the OSRC scholarship program, I offer personal advisement to all students at the College. At the end of every year, I coordinate the Research & Creativity Expo where students across all disciplines showcase their research accomplishments. My student staffers and I continue to look forward to serving those part of the John Jay Community!
Yan Shan Yu
Hi all! My name is Yan Shan Yu (full bio) and I am a second year student in the Forensic Mental Health Counseling Masters program. I am a senior staffer who joined the OSRC team three years ago as a Research and Administrative Assistant. It is exciting to work with the team to learn more about the different aspects of research and to plan events centered around research for those who are interested. Research is an essential part to my major and hopefully to you all because it allows us to explore and evaluate the information we receive. If any of you are interested in research, please do not hesitate to come by our office. I hope to see you guys during the variety of events we host and also in our office as we are committed to help you all!
Lisa Haye
Hi, my name is Lisa Haye (full bio), and I am an Economics major at John Jay College, and a Research & Administrative Assistant in the Office for Student Research & Creativity. My major has exposed me to the quantitative details that factor into a strong research project, and I am excited to learn more about research processes and interact with new people and ideas. OSRC not only pairs student researchers with suitable faculty mentors, but also encourages all students to express themselves creatively in the pursuit of answering big questions. I look forward to serving the John Jay community.
Kimberly Varela
Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly Varela (full bio), and I am a Research and Administrative Assistant with the OSRC. I am currently a first year MA student at JJC who is majoring in Criminal Justice. I have had to apply research practices to numerous areas of my academic journey, such as when I had to write research papers for my courses. Therefore, I look forward to working with the OSRC very much because it is a program dedicated to guiding students on how to successfully and professionally develop their own research. The OSRC does this by supplying students with mentors, funding, and other necessary resources. I am excited to join a team that helps students develop their research and professional skills!
Daven Asafo-Agyei
Hi Everyone! My name is Daven Asafo-Agyei (full bio), and I am a newly hired Research and Administrative Assistant with the OSRC. I am a senior at John Jay pursuing a CUNY BA degree for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Human Ecology and Planetary Management. Research is one of my favorite things to do, during my time here at John Jay, I have been able to apply various forms of research to several aspects of my life, including but not limited to my coursework and career. My passion and thirst for curiosity and knowledge have led me to the OSRC where I am provided with the greatest opportunity to see how research truly unfolds and be part of an amazing environment that is paving the way for the next leaders of tomorrow.
