Susy G. (Mendes) Cullen - Director of Sponsored Programs
Susy G. Mendes Cullen joined John Jay College in 2003. Throughout her tenure at the College, she has served the faculty and staff at all sponsored programs/research administration levels. She was appointed to the title of Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs in 2006, Deputy Director in 2007, Interim Director in 2012, and Director of Sponsored Programs in 2013. Susy works closely with the Dean of Research and OAR's Director of Research Operations and the Director of Grants, Budgets, and Special Projects to promote grantsmanship and support all activities involved in the acquisition and administration of grants.
Susy currently oversees the Pre-Award side of grants and contracts for OAR and works with faculty and staff on discussing prospective research/other projects for funding, exploring and identifying appropriate funding opportunities, and preparing and submitting proposals to external agencies and private sponsors. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in post-award administration, she can also advise Principal Investigators and support the Director of Grants, Budgets, and Special Projects in navigating post-award administration and relations with our fiscal agent, the Research Foundation of CUNY.
Susy earned her BA in Psychology from Iona College; MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College, CUNY; and MBA in Marketing from Baruch College, CUNY.

Susy contributes to OAR because she enjoys assisting our faculty and staff make their research ideas and projects a reality. She also wants to work with OAR's customer service-oriented team of professional and friendly colleagues to deliver the best service OAR can provide for the College.
