Our Mission
Our mission at the LGBTQ+ Resource Center is to create a student-centered campus resource that fosters an inclusive and safe environment for students across the spectrum of sexual orientations and gender identities. We aim to build a sense of community, promote awareness, and facilitate knowledge-sharing. Through leadership development, educational and social programs, and advocacy, we strive to empower students, promote research, and provide valuable resources.
The LGBTQ+ Support Group is a safe and inclusive space fostering connections and empowerment for students of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. In our support group sessions, you'll have the opportunity to navigate various aspects of LGBTQ+ life, including the coming out process, relationships, intersectionality and experiences of rejection or discrimination. Explore different strategies and perspectives to enhance your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
Meetings are weekly during the semester and facilitated by dedicated John Jay counselors. They're held during community hour in the Counseling Center (L.68 NB). Email lgbtq@jjay.cuny.edu to join.
