Federal & State Grants

Grant money is awarded based on financial eligibility and does not have to be repaid.

This federal entitlement program was instituted to help matriculated undergraduate students meet the cost of their education.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA for the corresponding academic year (as well as submit any additional information/documentation subsequently requested in order to determine economic eligibility).  Students must complete a FAFSA (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa) each year they would like to determine eligibility for the Pell Grant.

This federal grant is awarded to students who are enrolled at least half-time and demonstrate the greatest financial need.  Awards are $200 per semester. All FAFSA applicants are considered for the grant. A separate application is not required.

This opportunity program was established to provide comprehensive academic and financial support to assist capable students who otherwise might not be able to attend college due to their educational and financial circumstances.  To qualify for the program students must be a first-time college student and meet academic and financial requirements.  Students who have previously attended college can qualify for the program provided that the student was enrolled in a similar opportunity program, such as College Discovery, HEOP or EOP, there is space at the chosen transfer college, and the student has remaining program eligibility.  Eligible students are also required to complete the FAFSA and TAP application every academic year.  To find out more about the benefits of the SEEK program, please visit this website: https://www.cuny.edu/academics/academic-programs/seek-college-discovery/

This is a New York State tuition assistance program for active members of the New York Army National Guard, the New York Air National Guard and the New York Naval Militia.  It provides tuition assistance for active members enrolled in a first degree program of study.  The award covers tuition after all other financial aid has been applied to the tuition charges.  Students must apply for federal and state aid and file a DMNA 96-1 form, which can be obtained from their individual National Guard unit.  Continuation of the award will be dependent on good military standing, making satisfactory progress toward the degree and on maintaining good academic standing for financial aid purposes.

This program provides waiver funds for students employed as non-supervisory personnel in New York State as a uniformed member of a police, fire, corrections, or court agency.  Funding for this program varies each year.
