January 2023 -- John Jay College was ranked #2 in the nation for criminal justice, #5  for best public college in New York, and 11th for best Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in the nation by Niche, which based its rankings on a rigorous analysis of key statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and millions of student reviews.

For an institution to be categorized as an HSI, Hispanic students must account for at least 25% of the student body. John Jay’s Fall 2021 undergraduate student body was 41% Hispanic.
