John Jay College of Criminal Justice has announced the expansion of its online education program with the launch of the Online Master of Arts in Criminal Justice and the Online Master of Public Administration in Public Policy and Administration. Traditionally offered on campus only, both programs will bring the rich academic history of John Jay College and its mission of “Education for Justice” into the online platform. With these additions, John Jay College now offers five online graduate programs for students, many of whom are employed professionals, who cannot attend courses on-campus

The new, innovative approach to the delivery of advanced education and training, emphasizes best practices in online teaching and learning, with collaboration-driven online experiences for students. The online programs can be accessed from anywhere and mirror the academic quality and rigor as the on-campus programs. Courses are taught by our John Jay College faculty.”
The Online Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program offers a dynamic online education taught by faculty who are leading authorities in criminal justice, law enforcement, and terrorism studies. Students will gain an advanced understanding of research and practice in the U.S. criminal justice system and related issues. Core classes focus on criminology, policing, corrections, judicial studies, quantitative research methods and policy analysis. The online program is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the criminal justice system at local, state, or federal levels; conducting research on criminal law, crime mapping, cyber-crime, information security and technology as well as drug abuse and terrorism; or seeking opportunities in related industries.
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), the Online Master of Public Administration in Public Policy and Administration is designed to prepare students for positions in government and non-profit organizations committed to public service and social change. The program offers students the opportunity to acquire professional and political knowledge and skills based on academic instruction and study, public service experience and partnership with faculty in scholarly endeavors. It offers specializations in Management and Operations, Human Resources Management, Law and Public Management, Criminal Justice Policy and Administration, Emergency Management, Court Administration, and Urban Affairs. Graduates pursue careers at local and federal agencies such as the FBI, the Department of Health and Health Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Congressional Budget Office, the Department of Homeland Security, and within law enforcement, healthcare, and the nonprofit sector.
U.S. News & World Report has ranked John Jay in the top 10 in Criminology for its doctoral program in Criminal Justice, in the top 25% among graduate program in Public Affairs and among the top 10 colleges whose graduates have the least student debt. John Jay’s Master of Public Administration programs have also been selected as the winners of both the Diversity Award and the Social Equity Award by NASPAA. In addition, John Jay’s MPA programs were among the top five, and the criminal justice graduate program was rated in the top 15 by GraduatePrograms.com.
