John Jay College Continues High Ranking Recognition In 2021

(New York, NY) -- Continuing a long trend, John Jay College has again been nationally recognized by a wide variety of major publications for its affordable and top-quality programs and for its success enabling low-income and historically underrepresented students to climb the economic ladder. A number of specific programs, from Criminal Justice to Economics, were also singled out for excellence.

The US News and World Report recognized John Jay in seven different undergraduate and graduate areas; within the Regional Universities North category, John Jay is ranked #9 for Top Public Schools, #5 for Social Mobility and in the Top 20 for both Undergraduate Teaching and Most Innovate Schools. Overall, John Jay is ranked #44 in Regional Universities North,

For graduate programs, US News included Criminology (which includes Criminal Justice programs) as well as Public Affairs in the Best Graduate Schools rankings. 

Washington Monthly magazine looked at the value of a John Jay education and ranked the college in the Top Ten Best Bang for the Buck 2021: Northeast. The magazine, which judges colleges based on social mobility, research, and providing opportunities for public service, also ranked John Jay in the Master’s Top 100

Online publication, Niche, which relies on federal data and millions of reviews to determine its rankings places John Jay on its list as #14 Best Hispanic-Serving Institutions in America, #4, Best Colleges for Criminal Justice, and #9 Top Public Universities in New York

Celebrating diversity, The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education college rankings place John Jay #9 on its list of Top Colleges in the Northeast for Diversity

Out of more than 7,000 colleges nationwide, Forbes.com placed John Jay in the Top 400 on its America’s Top College’s List. Forbes highlights the colleges focuses on preparing students for public service and their opportunity to conduct research with faculty. 

College Consensus, which averages the rankings from other publishers to come up with an aggregate score, lists John Jay as a #10 Best Value and #40 Best Public Colleges & Universities

For its support and success of the hundreds of veterans who attend John Jay every year, U.S. Veterans Magazine selected the college for its list of Top Veteran-Friendly Schools

Looking at specific programs, Value Colleges designates John Jay on its list of 25 Best Online Criminal Justice Master's.  

The Edvocate, which argues for a radical shift in education policy and organization to revive a national love for learning, recognizes John Jay’s Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice program as the best in the nation, pointing to courses like Race, Gender Ethnicity, Crime and Justice; Understanding Criminal Behavior; and Crime Prevention and Control. It also ranks the college on lists for Best Master’s in Forensic Psychology and Best Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Economics.  

Security Degree Hub, focused on providing information on security degree programs, lists John Jay first and second in the Top 25 Most Affordable Security Degree Programs and the Top 10 Online Emergency Management Graduate Certificate Programs

Intelligent.com recognized John Jay’s Master’s in Criminal Justice program and four online programs, Emergency Management, Master’s in Forensic Psychology, Master’s in Forensic Science, Master’s in Computer Forensics
