Criminology Club
The creation of the Criminology Club is an important addition to our department, it helps us foster a sense of stimulating, supportive, and welcoming intellectual community. The club was established in Spring 2023 by Criminology majors Nessa Jacobs and Florian Griese under the tutelage of Sociology faculty advisers Dr. Yolanda Ortiz Rodriguez & Marisa Tramontano. The vision is to create a space where Sociology and Criminology students feel welcomed and can interact and network with our department faculty and staff.
"The goal is to help other students feel that they belong and are a part of the John Jay and Sociology Department Community. We would like for upperclassmen to become more involved so that the underclassmen-especially incoming freshmen-have a “relatable” person they can reach out to if needed. My hope is for our faculty to interact with the club members and share their work with them. It is my hope that students can be linked with faculty and be afforded opportunities to serve as research assistants and/or identify faculty to mentor them.' ___Nessa Jacobs
