Why Wait, Start College Now!

CUNYfirst - Activate My CUNYfirst Account
By participating in College Now (CN), you are beginning to build your academic record at CUNY. Students must activate their CUNYfirst account to view their grade(s) and unofficial transcript. As a gentle reminder, the final grade will not be mailed or emailed, and we cannot provide students or parents with grade results. Please Note: If you intend to attend John Jay, the grade you earn in the College Now program at John Jay will be calculated in your GPA. To activate your CUNYfirst account, please email the College Now office at collegenow@jjay.cuny.edu for assistance.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of education records, to establish the right of students to inspect and review their educational records, and to provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate and misleading data through informal and formal hearings. The Act applies to all institutions that are recipients of federal aid administered by the Secretary of Education. Students who are currently enrolled or formerly enrolled, regardless of their age or financial dependency status, are protected under FERPA.

What does this mean to my students and me?
In accordance with FERPA, the College will disclose the academic and financial records of a student to a third party provided the College has written consent from the student on file. Your student will need to fill out this form for the College to release information to a third party, including parents. Without this form, parents CANNOT conduct College business on the student's behalf at ANY office.
