Academic Support Offerings

  • Tutoring (In-Person, Online-Synchronous, Online-Asynchronous):
  • One-on-one
  • Small groups (up to 4 students max. per tutor)
  • Single (one-time only), weekly (once-a-week), or biweekly (twice-a-week) appointments
  • Appointment length: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 hour & 15 minutes
  • "Double sessions" and even "triple sessions" can be available but only by request and tutor approval
  • We welcome Walk-Ins!
  • We can also accommodate "After-Hour" appointment requests. "After-Hour" appointments take place outside of our hours of operation and generally on an online/remote basis. "After-Hour" appointments are available only upon request and with the tutor's approval.
  • Online-Synchronous appointments are available via Zoom
  • Online-Asynchronous appointments are available via Google Docs, Email, or Microsoft Word
    • NOTE: Although online-asynchronous appointments can occur at any time, students who request such an appointment will still need to provide their general availability (days and times).
  • Cancelling an appointment should be done at least one hour in advance.
  • Lateness can be generally permitted if done within the first 10 - 20 minutes of an appointment. A lateness that is more than 20 minutes will result into a "missed appointment."
  • 3 or more consecutive missed/cancelled appointments will result into a cancellation of the student's remaining appointments for the semester.

Supplemental Instruction

  • Every Fall, Spring, and Summer, Humanities and Math courses that are designated as "SEEK" with the letters "SK" in their section number (e.g. ENG101 SK01) are assigned at least 1 Supplemental Instructor (SI) or 2 SI(s) maximum.
  • SI(s) primarily support students during individual or small group work during class.
  • Review sessions or workshops led by the SI(s) and reserved for their students periodically take place outside of class.
  • SI(s) support faculty teaching SEEK Humanities and Math courses by addressing students' questions and concerns inside and outside of class, contributing to the lesson or lecture as needed/requested by the faculty, and meeting with faculty before or after class to discuss student concerns and propose solutions for academic or behavioral issues.
  • Every Fall and Spring, students in SEEK-designated Humanities and Math courses are required to attend a minimum of 8 - 10 hours of academic support for the semester.
