When eyewitness memory reliably exonerates the wrongfully convicted
The Psychology and Law PhD program is excited to host Dr. John Wixted (University of California at San Diego), a clinical psychologist with expertise on eyewitness memory and one of the authors of the American Psychology-Law Society’s recommendations for best practices in collecting eyewitness evidence. Dr. Wixted's research is concerned with the understanding of episodic memory. Much of his work investigates the cognitive mechanisms that underlie recognition memory, often using signal detection theory as a guide. In recent years, his research has also investigated the applied implications of signal detection-based models of recognition memory. The main focus of this line of research is on the reliability of eyewitness memory.
Please join us in the psychology conference room (NB 10.65.36) on 11/22 at 1PM.
