John Jay College Food Pantry

The John Jay College Food Pantry is available to all enrolled students. To access the pantry, you must provide proof of enrollment once per semester.

Food Sourcing

We primarily source our food from the New York City Food Bank. The variety of products offered depends on availability and current financial resources.  Our goal is to provide diverse options while prioritizing students' basic nutritional needs within budget constraints.

Visit Procedure

Each visit to the Food Pantry involves:

  • Checking in at our front desk.
  • Conducting a brief interview with a representative to determine eligibility and discuss food preferences and other relevant information.

We are available to serve you during the following hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM

What is a college food pantry?

A college food pantry is a resource available to students who may be experiencing food insecurity. It provides free or low-cost groceries to help students meet their nutritional needs.

Who can use the college food pantry?

Any currently enrolled student at [Your College/University] can use the food pantry. We are here to support students facing temporary financial challenges.

How often can I visit the food pantry?

Students can visit the food pantry once per week to select groceries that meet their dietary preferences and needs.

What kind of food is available at the pantry?

The food pantry stocks a variety of non-perishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, and snacks. We also aim to provide fresh produce and dairy when available.

How do I access the food pantry?

Visit Wellness Center, L67.00NB during our open hours, Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am – 3:30 pm. You'll need to present your student ID for verification and Pantry Card.

Is there a cost to use the food pantry?

No, the food pantry services are free of charge for all enrolled students.

Can I donate to the college food pantry?

Yes, we welcome donations from individuals and organizations. Please contact jjcfoodpantry@jjay.cuny.edu for more details on how to donate.

Who runs the college food pantry?

The food pantry is operated by John Jay College Wellness, with support from volunteers and donations from the Petrie Foundation. 

Are there any guidelines for using the food pantry?

We ask that students be respectful of others and mindful of the amount of food they take to ensure that all students in need can benefit from the pantry.

I have dietary restrictions. Can the food pantry accommodate them?

We strive to provide a variety of options that accommodate different dietary needs. Please let our volunteers know about any specific dietary restrictions you have, and we will do our best to assist you.
