The Housing and Utility Assistance Grant is designed to provide crucial support to students facing unexpected financial challenges. This grant aims to ensure that students can maintain stable living conditions by covering essential housing and utility expenses during times of crisis or unforeseen financial difficulties.

Grant Details

  • Grant Amount: Not exceeding $3000.  The amount awarded will vary based on individual circumstances and the specific needs outlined in the application.
  • Selection Criteria: Grant recipients will be selected based on financial need, the urgency of the situation, and the impact of the grant on their ability to maintain stable living conditions.

    To apply for the Housing and Utility Assistance Grant, students need to detail their financial situation and the specific housing and utility expenses they need assistance with and submit the following documentation:

    1. Complete Application Form
    2. Personal Statement: A written statement from the student explaining their financial situation, the need for assistance, and how the grant would help stabilize their housing and utilities.
    3. Proof of Enrollment: A document (current class schedule or enrollment verification letter) confirming the student's enrollment status.
    4. Completed W-9 form
    5. Financial Need Documentation: Evidence demonstrating financial need may include:
    • Financial Aid Award Letter: A copy of the financial aid award letter showing the amount of aid received and any unmet financial need.
    • Income Verification: Pay stubs, W-2 forms, or other documentation showing income (if applicable).
    • Housing and Utility Expense Documentation: Documents that detail the specific housing and utility expenses for which the grant is being requested. This may include:
    • Lease Agreement or Rental Receipts: To verify rent payments and the student's residence.
    • Utility Bills: Recent bills showing the amount due and payment history for utilities such as electricity.
    • Eviction Notice or Utility Disconnection Notice: If applicable, documentation showing that the student is at risk of eviction or utility disconnection.
    1. Reference Letters or Recommendations: Optionally, letters of recommendation or references from professors, advisors, or employers who can attest to the student's financial need and academic standing.
